The time zone nobody mentions
Colombia is UTC-5 all year and never changes the clock. That means Cali matches New York in winter and runs one hour behind it in summer: you overlap the entire US working day without ever waking up at 5am. For anyone invoicing in the United States, that single fact beats every café recommendation on this page.
Being 3 degrees off the equator has a second effect people underestimate: the day is the same length in January and in July. Sunrise around 6:00, sunset around 18:00, every single week of the year. There is no dark winter to get through.
Coworking
One warning worth more than a list of prices: coworking spaces here sell packs of hours, not months, and then advertise the pack as a monthly price. A headline that reads "from X a month" routinely turns out to be around 25 hours spread over 30 days — under an hour a day. Before paying, divide the price by the hours included and compare that, not the big number on the banner.
We are not listing specific spaces with prices yet: the rates we gathered could not be checked against a page we were able to open, and a stale price sends you somewhere with the wrong budget in mind.
Cafés with a plug
Being straight with you: almost no café in Cali publishes whether it has wifi, plugs or a quiet corner, and we refuse to guess on your behalf. Tierradentro's San Antonio branch is the one place that states it outright — a coworking floor on the third level, meant for working. The rest of this list is being filled in one visit at a time.
